I’m Sorry, What is This?

Hi, I’m Nick.

Lover, fighter, urban cowboy (age 3?), and cookie enthusiast! Welcome to my blog. If you came here by accident, I’m sorry, the exit is over there. If you are here on purpose…well, I promise this won’t take long and you can follow those other folks right on outta here in short order!

I didn’t really take up baking until I was in my mid-20s, but having grown up with a mom who was a great baker and an older brother who is inspirational in his mastery of all things pie and cheesecake related, I feel like I have the potential to make some decent cookies! I have found through the years that one of the ways I show love to others is through food, specifically sweet treats, and when the start of 2025 hit, I thought, damn, this world needs some cookies…and here we are!

I created thig blog after deciding that I was going to bake one cookie every week from Sarah Kieffer’s book, 100 Cookies: The Baking Book for Every Kitchen. I am documenting my experience as I go and will do my best to take some pictures that look like I know what the hell I am doing with a camera (I don’t!). I bought the book from my local bookstore (shout out Spoke & Word Books!) and dove in headfirst without knowing what I was getting into.

What I have quickly realized is this has become a fairly large focus of my life, and while baking a single cookie recipe each week is not a herculean effort, it definitely eats up more time than I expected! But it is so much fun to make these cookies and when my family, friends, and coworkers get to enjoy something I create, and it brings a smile to their face for a just a moment, all the time and effort are absolutely worth it!

That’s it! You’ve reached the end! I hope you enjoy this journey with me, and if you ever find yourself feeling down in this world just do me a favor…get a cookie and take big bite out it…I guarantee you’ll feel a little bit better.

Cheers!
